Defence Minister inspects Infantry Battalion 888/Satria Sejati to ensure troop readiness

Jakarta (ANTARA) — Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin inspected troops at the Infantry Battalion (Yonif) TP 888/Satria Sejati headquarters in Rembang, Central Java, to ensure the readiness of soldiers in carrying out their duties on Tuesday.

A press release received in Jakarta on Tuesday stated that the visit was conducted together with senior TNI officials, including TNI Deputy Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita.

During the visit, the minister reviewed personnel readiness ranging from training facilities, kitchens and official vehicles to the troops’ food supplies.

He and his entourage also took the opportunity to have lunch with the battalion’s soldiers.

Following lunch, the minister delivered a motivational address to the troops.

Sjafrie called on soldiers to enhance their professionalism and nationalism in carrying out their duties.

The presence of the battalion’s troops, he said, must deliver positive impacts on the community, from providing a sense of security to stimulating economic activity.

“The development of national defence capability must begin with units that are disciplined, combat-ready and capable of delivering tangible benefits to the public,” he said.

Sjafrie expressed hope that through such visits and motivational engagements, the soldiers’ morale would be boosted in serving the public and the nation.
