Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin considers Jordan to be one of Indonesia’s strategic partners in establishing military cooperation.

This was stated by Sjafrie during a state visit from the Jordanian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sudqi Atallah Abdel Qader Al Omoush, at the Ministry of Defence office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5).

The statement was shared by Sjafrie in a photo upload of the meeting on his Instagram account @sjafrie.sjamsoeddin on Thursday.

“In this meeting, we discussed several defence cooperation agendas, such as military education, inter-agency cooperation, and opportunities to enhance the defence resource capacities of both countries,” said Sjafrie.

He explained that the meeting covered several points of military cooperation suitable for Indonesia and Jordan. According to him, Indonesia is striving to strengthen military cooperation with Jordan.

Sjafrie admitted to being optimistic that the military cooperation would proceed smoothly because Indonesia and Jordan have a long history of good relations.

He hopes that through this cooperation, the defence capabilities of both countries can be further strengthened.

It is worth noting that on Wednesday (6/5), Sjafrie also received two representatives from friendly nations to establish military cooperation.

The two state guests were Singapore’s Chief of Army, Major General Cai Dexian, and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Khalid Jassim Alyassin.
