Defence Minister Gathers TNI Retirees, Andika and Gatot Nurmantyo Present

A number of TNI retirees met with Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin at the Ministry of Defence office in Jakarta on Friday (24/4).

From observations, the TNI retirees present included former ABRI Commander Wiranto, former TNI Commanders Yudo Margono, Agus Suhartono, Andika Perkasa, Djoko Suyanto and Gatot Nurmantyo, former Kopassus Deputy Commander Agum Gumelar.

Also former Army Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman, former Navy Chief of Staff Siwi Sukma Adji, Marsetio and several other retirees.

Also present were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Deputy TNI Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Tonny Harjono and Army Chief of Staff Maruli Simanjuntak.

Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin stated that over the past two years, the government has been working on building the nation’s defence capabilities, particularly the TNI’s strength.

“So far, we have not provided much information of various kinds to the public, because building the nation’s defence capabilities does indeed require some attention related to publications,” Sjafrie said when opening the meeting.

He mentioned that the meeting would convey strategic defence information to the TNI retirees.

“Then after that, the TNI Commander will also explain the essentials that need to be known by the elders and senior TNI retirees,” he said.
