Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin invited all former commanders, chiefs of staff, and TNI officials to discuss various government programmes, one of which is in the field of national defence that has been running over the past two years.

“So far, we have indeed not provided much information to the public because the development of national defence strength does require some attention related to publications,” said Sjafrie when opening the meeting and greetings with the TNI retirees in the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (BTI) Room, Ministry of Defence, Central Jakarta, on Friday.

On this occasion, Sjafrie and TNI officials actively opened up about the achievements that the government has made.

Sjafrie said that TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto would later explain the government’s defence programmes to the TNI retirees.

After the meeting had been running for a few minutes, the media personnel in the room were asked to leave by the protocol officers. As a result, the meeting was eventually held in closed session. Until now, the meeting is still ongoing in the BTI Room of the Ministry of Defence.

The meeting was attended by the TNI Commander and three chiefs of staff, namely Army Chief of Staff General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal TNI Mohamad Tonny Harjono.
