The state-owned enterprise holding for the defence industry—comprising PT Len, PT DI, Pindad and Dahana—once again organised a free mudik programme for 2026, involving approximately 900 participants travelling to various destinations across Indonesia. A total of 19 buses were prepared to transport the travellers back to their respective hometowns.

Rows of brightly coloured buses lined up ready to transport mudik participants to destinations including Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Solo, Lampung and other regions. Of the 34 buses organised by the defence industry state-owned enterprise holding, 19 were dispatched from the forecourt of Gedung Sate in Bandung.

“On behalf of the West Java Provincial Government, I express my gratitude to the state-owned enterprise holding for providing free mudik transport during this Lebaran period. This free mudik programme will certainly help reduce the risk of traffic accidents,” said West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan during the bus departure ceremony at Gedung Sate in Bandung on Tuesday, 17 March.

According to Erwan, the mudik tradition invariably involves accidents, but he noted that previous free mudik programmes organised by the provincial government, state-owned enterprises and the private sector have proceeded smoothly, safely and without incident.

“This year, West Java Province has the largest number of mudik travellers in Indonesia. A total of 21 per cent, or approximately 30 million West Java residents, undertake mudik journeys nationally, whilst approximately 25 million people enter West Java,” he explained.

On this occasion, Erwan also urged mudik participants to maintain their health and safety during their journeys and to exercise prudence when bringing family members back to the city after Lebaran.

Amalia Maya Fitri, Director of Technology and Risk Management at PT Len Industri, explained that the free mudik programme represents a concrete contribution from the defence industry to society.

“This free mudik programme is also part of the commitment of all companies within Defend ID. One contribution that can be directly felt by society is a programme such as this,” she stated.

Amalia hoped the programme would continue to provide broad benefits whilst supporting smooth national activities during the Lebaran mudik period.

Sutrisno, a mudik participant from Sukajadi in Bandung with Lampung Province as his destination, expressed gratitude for the free mudik programme provided by the defence industry state-owned enterprise holding.

“I hope next year the quota can be increased further, so that more people can benefit,” he said.
