Defector Hwang safe in RP

MANILA (Reuter): Top North Korean defector Hwang Jang-yop is
under heavy guard in a safe place, eats Korean dishes prepared by
a specially hired cook and spends his time watching cable TV,
senior Philippine military officers said yesterday.

They said they had not detected the presence of any Pyongyang
hitmen who might try to kill Hwang and that two North Korean
agents who slipped into the Philippines several years ago were
now married to Filipinos and leading quiet lives.

The two former agents, a man and a woman, entered the country
using Nepalese passports, the officers said.
