Deer travel to Bali
DENPASAR, Bali: The spokesman for the Bali provincial administration, I Gusti Agung Mayun, said here on Thursday that Bali had received 32 deer from the Bogor palace to be raised on the compound of the governor's office.
Mayun said that three of the 32 deer sent to Bali in two batches on Aug. 5 and Aug. 18 died during their journey to the island.
Mayun said the 29 deer which would be taken care of by the staff of the local cattle husbandry office, would be left to roam in a specially-designed grassy enclosure.
The deer, whose population, was expected to increase quickly could be used for grand religious ceremonies at sacred temples in the predominantly Hindu province. --Antara
