Dedie Rachim proposes extension of Jabodebek LRT and TransJakarta to Bogor
Bogor City - Mayor of Bogor Dedie A. Rachim has proposed the development of Jabodebek LRT and TransJakarta services to connect to the Bogor area in discussions with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung. “Transportation issues cannot be resolved independently. There must be joint steps within the agglomeration framework to make handling more comprehensive and have a real impact on the community,” Dedie stated in Bogor on Tuesday. The proposal was conveyed during a meeting at Jakarta City Hall on Monday (4/5), as part of efforts to strengthen mass transportation connectivity within the Jabodetabek agglomeration framework. Dedie said that strengthening cross-regional mass transportation networks is an urgent need to reduce congestion while increasing community mobility in the capital’s buffer areas. In addition to the transportation sector, both parties also highlighted flood management that requires cross-regional collaboration, given the interconnected river flow systems from upstream to downstream. Dedie emphasised that Bogor City has a strategic position as Jakarta’s main buffer area, so it needs to be actively involved in metropolitan policy planning and implementation. According to him, inter-regional collaboration must be strengthened so that development benefits can be felt more evenly by the community in the Jabodetabek area. The discussion also focused on strengthening the Jabodetabek agglomeration concept, which now has a national legal basis, so cross-regional coordination is expected to be more structured and effective.
