West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi hopes that the partnership between the provincial government and political parties will continue to be strengthened to jointly oversee the development agenda in West Java.

Dedi said in Bandung on Tuesday (25/8) that such partnership is particularly needed with political parties that have representation in the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) and have maintained communication with the provincial government.

“The hope is that we can work together to complete the conception and technocracy of development in West Java. So far, communication with party leaders, regional executive boards, factions, and we also see that the dynamics in the DPRD are good,” he said.

Dedi made the remarks while attending the 6th Regional Conference (Musda) of the West Java Democratic Party in Bandung on Monday (24/8) evening. During the conference, Anton Sukartono Suratto was unanimously appointed as the candidate for Chairman of the West Java Democratic Party Regional Executive Board after becoming the sole candidate with the support of 27 branch executive boards (DPC).

Secretary General of the Democratic Party Central Executive Board Herman Khaeron said the regional conference was held ahead of schedule, when the current leadership had served four years and four months, in order to accelerate the party’s organisational restructuring in West Java.

“This 6th West Java Democratic Party Regional Conference was held through an extraordinary regional conference, because the current leadership has only served 4 years and 4 months. But the holding of the regional conference is based on the party’s constitution and bylaws, and the authority lies with the Chairman,” he said.

According to Herman, the adjustment of the regional conference schedule is the authority of Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono in accordance with the party’s constitution and bylaws.

He said that by the registration deadline, there was only one candidate for Chairman of the West Java Democratic Party Regional Executive Board for the 2026–2031 period who met the requirements, namely Anton Sukartono Suratto.

Anton received support from 27 branch executive boards and one Democratic Party wing organisation. “By the registration deadline, there was only one candidate who received support from 27 DPCs and one wing organisation. Because there was only a single candidate, the regional conference proceeded more quickly and Anton was appointed by acclamation to then be proposed to the chairman,” he said.

Herman said the regional conference also served as a forum to evaluate the leadership and formulate strategic steps for the Democratic Party in West Java. He urged Democratic Party cadres to get closer to the community and listen to their aspirations.

“The people of West Java vote with their hearts. So we remind cadres in West Java that they must be close to the people. Like KDM, who is close to the people, so emulate him so that the Democratic Party can be loved in the future,” he said.

The regional conference was also attended by a number of Democratic Party politicians, including Dede Yusuf and Andi Mallarangeng, as well as representatives of several political parties.
