West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi visited the victim of abuse and confinement, Yuvita Sri Rezeki (29), at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung on Monday evening (22/6/2026). Dedi admitted he could not bear to see Yuvita’s condition, as she suffered severe injuries from the abuse allegedly committed by her boyfriend, identified as TH. After the visit, Dedi said the victim’s condition was improving. ‘She is getting better. Although honestly, I couldn’t even bear to look at her,’ he said. He stated that the West Java Provincial Government will undertake two measures: covering all of the victim’s hospital care costs and providing assistance to the victim’s family. ‘Regarding the medical treatment, that is the doctor’s responsibility. We discussed the costs earlier. I will cover all the costs until she is fully recovered. So there is no need to seek help from BPJS or anywhere else,’ he said. He added that her parents have also been provided with assistance, so they do not have to worry about managing household affairs while waiting for their child. ‘The West Java Provincial Government is responsible for its citizens,’ he said. He also reminded women to be vigilant towards anyone, particularly men, as violence against women is currently rampant. ‘Be careful, be vigilant. When going out with a man, make sure you are accompanied by your family. That is crucial,’ he stated. He mentioned that he has communicated with the West Java Regional Police and believes the perpetrator will be arrested soon. He said there is no need to open donations for the victim. ‘It is already handled. I am confident the Police Chief and his entire team will apprehend the perpetrator soon,’ he said. Meanwhile, West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan issued an ultimatum for TH to surrender immediately. ‘Regarding information on the perpetrator’s whereabouts, we cannot disclose it technically, but we will certainly pursue him wherever he goes,’ Rudi said in West Bandung on Tuesday (23/6/2026). Inspector General Rudi said his party will take a statement from the victim to help hunt down the perpetrator, who has been on the run since the confinement case came to light. According to information, the victim’s condition has started to improve. ‘We have received news that the victim is getting better. We will certainly utilise this condition to question the victim, as her role is very significant. There is material we need to ask regarding the perpetrator,’ he said. Rudi stated that the process of gathering information from the victim will still consider Yuvita’s psychological condition, as she has suffered severe trauma from her boyfriend’s actions during their three years together in a boarding house. ‘This process will certainly consider the victim’s severe psychological trauma. We must ensure our questions do not disturb her psychological state,’ Rudi said. West Java Police Public Relations Head, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, said a special joint task force has been formed to capture the perpetrator, who is still on the run. The perpetrator’s whereabouts are currently being identified by the police. ‘We have formed a special joint team. God willing, we hope the case will be resolved soon,’ Hendra said.
