Dedi Mulyadi urges regional heads to be bold in urban planning
If a commander possesses courage and bravery, their troops will become a brave force. However, if the commander lacks courage, the troops will merely seek safety.
Garut (ANTARA) - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has urged regional heads in regencies and cities to be courageous in organising their territories to ensure they are orderly, clean, and beautiful to support tourist visits.
Dedi Mulyadi stated that leadership courage is necessary to mobilise various agencies, including the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), in enforcing local regulations and maintaining environmental order.
“If the commander has the nerve and is brave, the troops will become a brave force. However, if the commander is not brave, the troops will seek safety,” said Dedi during the destruction of 44 million illegal cigarettes at Garut Square on Wednesday.
He noted that urban planning to maintain cleanliness, order, and environmental beauty is part of the duty of the Satpol PP as enforcers of local regulations.
According to him, the character of personnel in the field is influenced by the leadership of their superiors; therefore, regional heads need to provide firm support for regional planning tasks.
“Because the troops depend on the commander,” said the former Regent of Purwakarta.
These efforts, he added, should be carried out through coordination and collaboration with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri).
He assessed that well-organised regions can increase local original revenue (PAD) by encouraging growth in the tourism, hospitality, and restaurant sectors.
“Areas that serve as tourist destinations must be organised, orderly, and beautiful,” he said.
Dedi cited the Garut Square area as an example, which possesses potential beauty through urban planning, including the presence of colonial-era buildings in its vicinity.
“I am standing in a very aesthetic place, provided that all spaces and territories are organised and tidied up,” he said.
