Dedi Mulyadi Urges Bekasi Regent to Accelerate Infrastructure Development
BANDUNG — West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has asked Bekasi Regent Asep Surya Atmaja to mobilise all regional government agencies to improve the quality of public services. The move is intended to accelerate infrastructure development in Bekasi Regency.
Dedi stressed that the success of local government should be reflected in the services people experience directly. These include the condition of roads, the quality of educational facilities, and healthcare services at community health centres and hospitals.
He made the remarks while inaugurating Asep Surya Atmaja as Bekasi Regent for the remainder of the 2025–2030 term at Bale Gede Pakuan in Bandung on Friday (23 October 2026).
“I therefore ask Dr Asep, as regent, to lead all the regional government agencies in Bekasi, improve public services and increase infrastructure spending,” Dedi said.
According to Dedi, infrastructure development must be taken seriously so that residents can feel the tangible benefits of the budgets managed by local government. He wants roads in Bekasi Regency to be smooth, schools to improve, and healthcare services to be of higher quality.
“The roads must be smooth, the schools must be good, the community health centres must be the best, and the hospitals too,” Dedi said.
Local leaders have a responsibility to ensure that all government departments operate effectively rather than merely going through bureaucratic routines. Each regional agency must work towards a clear goal: improving services and meeting the public’s needs.
Higher infrastructure spending must also be accompanied by transparent and professional budget management. Dedi urged that government projects be awarded through open tenders, without intervention by the regional head in choosing the winner.
“Carry out all the work through open tenders, with professionals winning. The regent must not dictate who will win,” Dedi said.
Dedi said he hoped Asep’s leadership would accelerate development in Bekasi Regency while ensuring the regional budget had a direct impact on residents.
“I am confident that Dr Asep has never done anything wrong, and so he will never be afraid of pressure from anyone, as long as he governs properly,” Dedi said.
