Dedi Mulyadi Uncovers Wage and Safety Violations During Limestone Company Raid

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi conducted a surprise inspection of two limestone processing companies in Gunungmasigit Village, Cipatat District, West Bandung Regency, on Tuesday. During the visit, he discovered multiple alleged labour violations deemed detrimental to workers. At the first location, PT Batu Raya, Dedi received reports that despite holding employee status, workers were paid on a piece-rate basis. Basic rights such as health insurance and holiday bonuses were reportedly not provided by management. “Status karyawan tapi sistem kerja borongan. Status karyawan tapi BPJS bayar sendiri. Status karyawan tapi keselamatan kerja diabaikan. Ini kerja apa dikerjain,” Dedi stated in an official release. Similar conditions were found at PT Raja Barokah Abadi, where occupational health and safety was a major concern as workers were not provided with masks despite daily exposure to limestone dust. Dedi considered this a serious negligence threatening workers’ lung health. He expressed regret over the companies’ treatment of workers, comparing it unfavourably to historical practices, and announced he would immediately deploy an audit team to thoroughly examine the legality and compliance of the companies with prevailing labour laws.
