Dedi Mulyadi targets Cihampelas Terrace renovation to be completed by October 2026

The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) is targeting the demolition and redevelopment of Teras Cihampelas, whose management now officially falls under its authority, to be completed by October 2026.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said his side is aiming for an open auction process that is expected to be transparent and free of irregularities, so that the demolition and physical redevelopment of the iconic area can be fully completed within three months.

“Administrative matters and everything else are targeted to be settled within one month, so that by October all physical works will be completed,” Governor Dedi Mulyadi said in a statement in Bandung on Monday.

The West Java Provincial Government officially took over management of the Jalan Cihampelas area, including Teras Cihampelas, from the Bandung City Government on 29 July 2026, through the signing of the Regional Grant Agreement Deed (NPHD) and the Handover Report (BAST) at Bandung City Hall.

Dedi Mulyadi emphasised the shift in the provincial government’s role, which is now no longer limited to administrative functions but directly involved in handling technical matters in the field.

“Perhaps this is the first time in history that a provincial government is building pavements and parks. Redevelopment like this is intended for urban centre areas, whilst for rural areas we focus on road infrastructure development,” he said.

Dedi Mulyadi projects that the new face of Teras Cihampelas will directly synergise with the reactivation of flights at Husein Sastranegara Airport to boost the foreign tourist market, particularly from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam.

Meanwhile, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan welcomed the completion of the management transfer of Teras Cihampelas, which forms part of the resolution of three crucial urban issues together with the West Java Provincial Government, alongside work on the Legok Nangka waste-to-energy facility (TPPAS).

“Alhamdulillah, today an extraordinary synergy has been established between the city government and the provincial government. Of the three main issues we discussed with the Governor, everything is going well. The Legok Nangka TPPAS has had its groundbreaking ceremony, and today Teras Cihampelas has been officially handed over. The three most contentious issues between me and the Governor are settled,” said Farhan.
