West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has revealed that the Work From Home (WFH) policy for civil servants, now promoted for cost savings in the provincial government, has been in place every Thursday and has effectively impacted the budget. According to Dedi Mulyadi in Bandung on Monday, the remote working policy has now triggered budget spending realisation that exceeds targets (over). Dedi emphasised that the effectiveness of civil servants’ performance should no longer be measured solely by physical presence in the office, but based on development products directly felt by the public. “We have been implementing WFH for a long time, it’s effective. Just look at the development products, whether they succeed or not. So far, administration has run well, and budget spending realisation is even over,” said Governor Dedi Mulyadi after a visit in the Gedung Sate building in Bandung. However, he provided critical notes that the current bureaucratic structure is still too bloated at the managerial level. He highlighted the imbalance in numbers between structural officials and technical staff who are the spearhead of public services. “The problem with us is there are more structural positions, more functions that order rather than those who do the work,” said Dedi Mulyadi. In the future, the West Java Governor plans to carry out a major transformation by increasing the portion of staff working on direct technical services. Through synergy between the efficiency of the WFH work pattern and strengthening technical staff, his side is optimistic about maintaining regional fiscal health while continuing to improve the quality of public services that adapt to the times. During the visit and consolidation momentum, Governor Dedi Mulyadi conveyed an apology to the staff, while reminding them of the crucial agenda facing West Java, from the submission of the Accountability Statement Report (LKPJ) to the examination process by the Financial Audit Board (BPK).
