West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated he would assist in stabilising the economic conditions of families affected by the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi.

In addition to covering medical treatment costs, the West Java Provincial Government is specifically providing compensation of Rp 10 million for each patient currently undergoing treatment at hospitals in Bekasi City.

This step was taken because Dedi assessed that the medical treatment period often impacts the cessation of family income, particularly for those working as daily labourers.

Besides cash assistance for inpatients, the West Java Provincial Government has also prepared other aid schemes for the victims, namely compensation for fatalities of Rp 50 million per person and treatment costs.

Dedi Mulyadi also highlighted the condition of health facilities in Bekasi. In response to complaints about malfunctioning lifts and suboptimal treatment rooms, the Provincial Government is disbursing stimulus funds of Rp 20 billion for improvements to the Chasbullah Abdulmadjid Hospital.

“The Rp 20 billion funds can also compensate if any patients lack payment fees. So the hospital has reserve funds to help residents,” he added.

In agreement with the Governor, Bekasi City Mayor Tri Adhianto confirmed that aid from the Provincial Government would also flow to other health facilities.

“The Provincial Government of West Java will provide assistance for type D hospitals in Bekasi City amounting to Rp 15 billion for treatment,” said Tri.

The accident resulted in the deaths of 15 female KRL passengers. Dozens of other passengers sustained injuries.

The victims are currently receiving treatment at several health facilities, including Bekasi City Hospital, Bella Bekasi Hospital, Primaya Hospital, Mitra Plumbon Cibitung Hospital, Bakti Kartini Hospital, Siloam Bekasi Timur Hospital, Hermina Hospital, and Mitra Keluarga Bekasi Timur and Barat Hospitals.

Meanwhile, 240 passengers of the Argo Bromo Anggrek train were reported to have survived.
