Dedi Mulyadi invites political parties to jointly oversee West Java development
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi hopes that the partnership between the provincial government and political parties will continue to be strengthened to jointly oversee the development agenda in West Java.
Dedi said in Bandung on Tuesday that the partnership is particularly needed with political parties that have representation in the West Java Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) and have maintained communication with the provincial government.
“The hope is that we can work together to complete the conception and technocracy of development in West Java. So far, communication with party leaders, regional executive boards, factions, and we also see that the dynamics in the DPRD are good,” he said.
Dedi made the remarks while attending the sixth Regional Conference (Musda) of the West Java Democratic Party in Bandung on Monday evening (24/8).
At the conference, Anton Sukartono Suratto was unanimously endorsed as the candidate for chairman of the West Java Democratic Party’s Regional Executive Board (DPD) after becoming the sole candidate with support from 27 branch executive boards (DPC).
Secretary General of the Democratic Party’s Central Executive Board (DPP) Herman Khaeron said the conference was held earlier than originally scheduled, when the current leadership had been in office for four years and four months, to accelerate the party’s organisational restructuring in West Java.
“The sixth West Java Democratic Party Musda is being held through a special regional conference (Musdalub), because the current leadership has only been in office for 4 years and 4 months. However, the holding of the Musda is based on the party’s constitution and bylaws, and the authority lies with the chairman,” he said.
According to Herman, the adjustment of the conference schedule is the authority of Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono in accordance with the party’s constitution and bylaws (AD/ART).
He said that by the registration deadline, there was only one candidate for chairman of the West Java Democratic Party’s DPD for the 2026–2031 period who met the requirements, namely Anton Sukartono Suratto.
Anton received support from 27 DPCs and one wing organisation of the Democratic Party.
“By the registration deadline, there was only one candidate who received support from 27 DPCs and one wing organisation. Because there was only a single candidate, the conference proceeded more quickly and Anton was endorsed by acclamation to be subsequently proposed to the chairman,” he said.
Herman said the conference also served as a forum to evaluate the current leadership and formulate strategic steps for the Democratic Party in West Java.
He urged Democratic Party cadres to get closer to the public and listen to their aspirations.
“The people of West Java vote with their hearts. So we remind cadres in West Java that they must be close to the people. Like KDM, who is close to the people, so emulate him so that the Democratic Party can be loved in the future,” he said.
The conference was also attended by a number of Democratic Party politicians, including Dede Yusuf and Andi Mallarangeng, as well as representatives from several political parties.
