West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi conducted a sudden inspection of the BDx data centre in Jatiluhur, questioning the company directly regarding the project’s licensing status.

“My intention is to ask, is all the licensing completed yet?” Dedi asked in a video uploaded to his personal Instagram account on Wednesday (30/09/202 ถ6).

A project representative replied that the licensing is currently in progress. Dedi responded to this statement by instructing that construction be paused until the permits are finalised.

The man affectionately known as KDM also requested that construction be halted.

“If it is still in process, do not start yet, sir. It must be stopped first, otherwise, we will be considered to be in violation. I have been instructed to check projects where permits have not yet been issued,” he said.

For context, Dedi had participated in a visit to the data centre some time ago.

Dedi also questioned why certain permits, such as the AMDAL (Environmental Impact Assessment), have not yet been issued. The project representative stated that there is still data that requires assistance.

He requested that the project consultants resolve these issues and address all aspects within the public sphere.

Furthermore, Dedi insisted that the project should not proceed because both the AMDAL and the PBG (Building Approval) are not yet in place.

“This needs acceleration, so do not be complacent, sir. Construction is already underway, yet your consultants are being relaxed. Do not do that; the company pays you to provide service,” Dedi said.

Previously, the West Java Provincial Government halted the ongoing construction. This decision will be revoked once the permits are issued by the Purwakarta Regency Government.

“That is correct [it is temporarily halted], until the permits are issued by the Purwakarta Regency Government. There are several permit requirements that are still in process regarding the permits issued by the Purwakarta Regency Government,” said the Head of the West Java Communication and Informatics Department, Adi Komar, to CNBC Indonesia.
