Dedi Mulyadi Dismisses West Java Education IT Chief Amid 2026 Student Admissions Chaos
The West Java Education Office has been inundated with parents complaining about various issues with the 2026 Prospective New Student Mapping (PCMB) system since Monday. The chaos culminated in the dismissal of Suhendar, Head of the Educational Information and Communication Technology Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD Tikomdik).
Reporting from detikJabar, the final day of PCMB registration within the West Java 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB) was marked by a wave of public grievances. Since Monday afternoon (8/6/2026), dozens of parents have sought clarity regarding various technical obstacles in the registration process.
The complaints were diverse, ranging from prospective student accounts that remained unverified to confusion among participants who failed to pass the Sekolah Maung selection and needed to continue registration through the regular pathway.
One confused parent is Suheli Syarif, a resident of Coblong, Bandung City. His son had previously taken part in the Sekolah Maung selection for SMAN 5 Bandung but was declared unsuccessful when the results were announced on Monday morning.
Problems arose when he tried to continue the registration process via the regular pathway through PCMB. Until the afternoon, the account required to access the system remained unusable.
“Previously, my child registered for Sekolah Maung at SMAN 5. After not passing, we had to enter PCMB. But until now, we cannot log in,” Suheli said when met at the West Java Education Office.
The decision to dismiss Suhendar was taken after Dedi Mulyadi personally met with the parents and demanded an explanation from the registration system management team, which was deemed the source of many problems in the PCMB implementation.
“Correct. The Head of UPTD Tikomdik is temporarily deactivated,” Dedi said in his statement on Wednesday (10/6/2026).
During the meeting, Dedi was seen questioning the capacity and competence of the person responsible for the SPMB information technology system.
“Do you understand this field? What is your background? Who recommended you for this position?” Dedi asked Suhendar.
According to Dedi, the West Java Provincial Government had long established a policy that all government applications must be built and managed in an integrated manner by the West Java Provincial Communication and Information Office. Therefore, he considered it inappropriate for regional apparatuses to develop application systems separately.
As a rapid response measure, the management of the SPMB system has now been transferred to the West Java Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo). Dedi also appointed the Head of the e-Government Division at Diskominfo Jabar, Mark Aditya, as the Acting Head of UPTD Tikomdik.
“It will be handled by Diskominfo first until a definitive new official is appointed,” he said.
