Dedi Mulyadi Denies Joining PSI: Not Just Untrue, but a Hoax
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has firmly denied rumours suggesting he will join the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
Mulyadi made the denial after attending the 6th Regional Conference (Musda) of the West Java Democratic Party in Bandung on Monday evening, 24 August 2026. He questioned the source of the rumour and stressed that he still serves as Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s Board of Trustees.
“Where did this issue come from? We cannot possibly respond to that. It came out of nowhere, suddenly something strange,” Mulyadi said.
Mulyadi, known by his initials KDM, insisted he has no plans to move to or join PSI. He also urged the public not to believe the rumour.
“To this day I am Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Board of Trustees,” he asserted.
According to Mulyadi, the claim that he would join PSI is false information.
“It is not just untrue, it is a lie. A hoax,” he said.
West Java Gerindra Deputy Chairman Buky Wibawa Karya Guna admitted he did not know the basis for the rumour. He also stressed that Mulyadi, also known as Demul or KDM, had previously expressed support for Prabowo Subianto to lead Indonesia.
“I do not know what data and variables led people to speculate that Dedi Mulyadi (Demul) wants to move to PSI. However, there has been a firm rebuttal in which Demul denied the matter. In his statement, he wants Prabowo to lead Indonesia,” Buky said when contacted.
Buky also said he had not seen any signs that Mulyadi would leave Gerindra.
“After all, he is a Gerindra cadre and serves on the Board of Trustees at Gerindra’s central board. This shows strong moral and ethical quality. So, on several occasions when I met Demul, I have not seen any signs pointing in that direction. I also find this commotion strange,” he said.
Buky also rejected the notion that Mulyadi’s frequent visits to various regions, including outside West Java, were aimed at seeking sympathy. One example was Mulyadi’s visit to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) after a major earthquake last week, which was then linked to the rumour of his move to PSI.
