De'Clan Cafe Closed After Police Raid Linked to Three Corruption Cases
The de’Clan Signature cafe in Cipete, South Jakarta, appeared tightly shut on Thursday morning after being raided by police the previous day. The search is linked to the investigation of three alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) cases.
Based on observations at the location, the cafe was not operational. All access points were closed off by a black fence surrounding the building, and no commercial activity was visible inside the cafe area. Two entrance doors inside the building were also closed. A small notice board hung on the door informed potential visitors: “Closed.”
Although the venue appeared shut, two cars and a motorcycle were parked in the cafe’s courtyard. Security personnel were also seen remaining on guard at the entrance post. Around 10.23 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, several people were observed entering the cafe area, though their identities and purpose remain unknown. Shortly after they entered, the gate and doors were closed tightly again by the staff.
Previously, the joint team’s raid on Wednesday afternoon had drawn the attention of local residents. A number of fully armed Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel were seen guarding the cafe entrance throughout the process until the evening. During the search, police seized evidence including one safe and four suitcases. The suitcases were reported to contain bundles of cash in US dollars.
The Head of the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kakortas Tipikor Polri), Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, revealed that the raid was part of a joint investigation between the Corruption Eradication Corps and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Three corruption and money laundering cases are being targeted.
“The Corruption Eradication Corps is implementing a joint investigation scheme with the Metro Jaya Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate in handling corruption and money laundering cases in the PLN BB (Coal) case, the ASABRI case from 2020 to 2025, and the alleged corruption case in the debt settlement process of PT CBS to PT KNI from 2020 to 2025,” Totok told reporters.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stressed that the investigation into these cases is a direct instruction from President Prabowo Subianto. “This is the President’s attention that alleged corruption cases become a priority for the police to carry out disclosure and investigation processes. This series of searches is part of the investigation process in seeking and collecting evidence,” Budi asserted.
Budi added that a total of 12 locations were raided by police in this series of investigations. Besides the de’Clan Signature cafe, police also searched several company offices and private residences in the Greater Jakarta area.
