Debut of Latest MacBook Pro and Mac Studio Delayed Due to Memory Chip Crisis

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Global memory chip supply limitations are reportedly poised to delay the launch of two new Apple devices: the latest-generation MacBook Pro and Mac Studio. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, in a report cited by Macrumors on Sunday (19/4), indicated that the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, previously expected to debut at the end of 2026, now stand a chance of arriving in early 2027. Gurman also forecasted that the Mac Studio would be announced around mid-2026, coinciding with the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. Internal Apple sources estimate that the device will not begin shipping to consumers until around October 2026 due to chip supply constraints. The macOS 27 operating system will introduce a more touch-friendly interface for navigation. Meanwhile, the latest Mac Studio generation will be equipped with newer M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips. In comparison, the current Mac Studio model uses a combination of M4 Max and M3 Ultra chips, as Apple has yet to release an M4 Ultra variant. Beyond performance enhancements, few design changes are expected for the desktop device. Amid the current memory limitations, the Mac Studio is anticipated to launch around October 2026, while the touch-screen MacBook Pro will arrive no later than January 2027.
