Debt Collector Stabbing of Advocate in Tangerang Referred to Metro Police Headquarters

South Tangerang Police have officially transferred the handling of the stabbing case involving an advocate with the initials BST, perpetrated by a debt collector in Karawaci, Tangerang, to Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters.

South Tangerang Police Chief AKBP Boy Jumalolo confirmed that the case is no longer being handled at the police station level. “It has already been referred to Metro Police Headquarters,” Boy stated when contacted by Kompas.com via short message on Friday 27 February 2026.

However, one of the suspects who stabbed the victim, JBI, was arrested earlier in Semarang, Central Java, on Tuesday 24 February 2026. Two other suspects remain under police pursuit.

Previously, the victim’s legal representative from the Indonesian Bar Association’s District Board, Andri Jurnisal, stated that BST was stabbed by a debt collector at his home in Palem Semi Housing Estate, Karawaci, Tangerang, on Monday 23 February 2026.

The incident began when three debt collectors arrived at the victim’s residence at 14:00 local time. They came to repossess a motor vehicle allegedly in arrears on payment. “They had been there since 14:00. From CCTV footage, we could see them surveilling the front terrace of the house,” Andri stated when met by Kompas.com at South Tangerang Police Headquarters, Serpong, South Tangerang, on Tuesday 24 February 2026.

At that time, the victim’s house was empty. The victim and his wife, Gloriana (36), were outside the house to collect their child. According to Andri, the debt collectors claimed to be acting under authorisation from financing company Mandiri Tunas Finance.

However, the manner in which the three debt collectors proceeded was deemed not to comply with regulations, so the victim requested their identification. Additionally, residential security personnel were asked to detain the debt collectors’ vehicle at the housing estate gate.
