Jakarta – A group claiming to be debt collectors ambushed and robbed a motorbike from a rider and assaulted him in Jalan Daan Mogot, Kalideres, West Jakarta.

The rider, whose identity was not disclosed, was travelling towards Tangerang when the incident occurred in front of a can factory on Tuesday morning, around 05:10 local time.

Kalideres Police Sector chief, Kompol Rihold Sihotang, said by telephone from Jakarta on Wednesday that officers are following up on the information. However, the victim has not yet filed a police report about the premanism experienced.

“We are investigating first. The victim has not filed a report yet with Kalideres Police,” he said.

In response to concerns about rising premareer? No, about premamism; I’ll keep as ‘premanism, the street gangs disguised as matel’, he said that his team from the Opsnal Unit Reskrim regularly patrol matel along Daan Mogot. Patrols will be intensified in the future.

The victim, who says he works as a security officer at Bank BSI Cisoka, Tangerang, had to surrender his motorbike and all valuables.

The victim recounted: while riding at dawn, four suspects on two motorcycles cornered him.

“While I was riding, two motorcycles suddenly passed me. One in front, one behind. I nearly fell. My key was pulled,” he said in the video.

After forcing him to stop, the gang claimed to be matel and accused him of missing vehicle repayments for months.

“They said they are matel. My motor was said not to have been paid for three months, though I had just paid on February 28,” he said.

Instead of listening, the suspects began to intimidate and use physical violence. He said he was interrogated, beaten, and eventually pushed into the river along the side of Jalan Daan Mogot.

“Then they asked all sorts of questions. I was beaten in the stomach, and I was shoved into the river,” he said.

In a helpless state after being pushed into the river, the victim could only watch as the gang drove away with his motorcycle and all belongings.

“The motorcycle was taken, along with my bag, my phone, my wallet, everything in the bag. The phone and wallet contained my ID cards (KTP), my KTA, GP and GM,” he added.
