Debt Collector Arrested for Stabbing Advocate in Tangerang
The Special Crimes Unit (Subdit Jatantas) of the Metro Jaya Police swiftly launched an investigation into the case of an advocate who was stabbed by a debt collector in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang. The perpetrator has now been apprehended.
The Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed the arrest. The perpetrator is currently being held at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters.
“The suspected perpetrator of the stabbing of the victim, who is an advocate in the Kelapa Dua area of South Tangerang, has been successfully apprehended by the team from the Special Crimes Unit of the Metro Jaya Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate,” said Budi Hermanto in a statement on Wednesday (25 February 2026).
Budi Hermanto stated that the perpetrator, identified as JBI, was arrested in Semarang, Central Java, on Tuesday evening (24 February). The perpetrator is currently undergoing intensive questioning at the Police headquarters.
“He is currently undergoing questioning for further investigation,” he added.
Furthermore, Budi Hermanto said that the police are prioritising the protection of the public and ensuring that every act of violence is processed in accordance with legal provisions. This arrest is a rapid response effort by the National Police to provide a sense of security to the community.
“We respond quickly to every incident that causes unrest. Debt collection must not be carried out outside of legal mechanisms, especially if accompanied by intimidation or violence. Every violation will be dealt with firmly in accordance with legal provisions,” he emphasised.
