Jakarta — A group of debt collectors intercepted the driver of a black Mercedes-Benz C300 travelling along Gunung Sahari Road, in front of Mangga Dua Square, Ancol Sub-district, Pademangan District, North Jakarta (Jakut), on Tuesday, 10 March. The gang stopped the vehicle under the guise of claiming the owner had failed to pay vehicle instalments, prompting the victim to report the incident to police via the 110 emergency line.

According to Pademangan Police Station Chief AKP Daniel Dirgala, the report was immediately followed up by the Criminal Investigation Unit. “We immediately conducted an inspection of the crime scene and questioned several parties,” he said.

The complainant, identified as F, reported that approximately eight debt collectors had intercepted him whilst driving the black Mercedes-Benz C300 with licence plate number B 328 ETH. The victim was accused of failing to pay instalments for approximately four months.

“Following the report through 110, both the vehicle owner and the debt collectors were brought to Pademangan Police Station,” stated Dirgala. Both the vehicle owner and the gang members were subsequently questioned further by investigators.

“We immediately conducted checks and secured the vehicle,” Dirgala added. As of the report, the debt collectors remained under investigation at the Criminal Investigation Unit of Pademangan Police Station.

Dirgala emphasised that he had instructed his officers to respond promptly to and follow up on reports from residents through the 110 emergency line in order to maintain order and security in the area.
