Debris of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi to be cleared soon

The Jakarta Selatan Education Sub-department has stated that the debris of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi will be cleared soon, following concerns from parents as the school building has been in ruins for two years. Santoso, Head of the Jakarta Selatan Education Sub-department, said the provincial government is striving to accelerate the handling process. He confirmed that the repair of the damaged state primary school in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, has been included in budget planning and is a regional government priority. Santoso explained that the construction is now in the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) phase for 2025. Although the project was initially proposed for realisation in 2027, he expressed hope that the process could be expedited. Monitoring at the site shows that a yellow warning line has been installed around the collapsed building to keep people at a safe distance. Currently, 274 students from grades 1 to 6 are still enrolled, a decrease from the previous 300. The school building partially collapsed during the DKI Jakarta regional elections on 27 November 2024, with four classrooms and a school health unit affected. The collapse occurred gradually during heavy afternoon rain, and while there were no casualties, parents remain anxious about the danger posed by the remaining structure. Parents have repeatedly sought clarity from the school authorities without receiving certainty. They hope the DKI Provincial Government will help rebuild the school to be better and more comfortable for students, especially as religious study activities have been postponed due to the incident.
