Debris from Ukrainian Drone Falls and Damages Russian Oil Pipeline
Ukraine launched a drone attack on Russia. Russian authorities stated that they successfully intercepted the attack, but debris from the downed drone damaged a Russian oil pipeline near the Primorsk Baltic port. According to AFP on Sunday (5/4/2026), Russian air defences shot down 19 unmanned aerial vehicles in the Leningrad region. Debris from one of the shot-down drones then “damaged part of an oil pipeline near the Primorsk port, and the pipeline is being safely burned,” said regional governor Alexander Drozdenko via Telegram, as reported by AFP on Sunday (5/4/2026). He stated that there were no casualties in the incident. It is known that Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian infrastructure targets in recent months. Primorsk, located between the Finnish border and the key city of St. Petersburg, was also attacked in March when a fuel depot was set ablaze.
