Deaths of Woman and Child Found Unclothed at Abandoned Police Barracks Suspected to be Murder

Jombang – Police at Jombang Police Resort in East Java are investigating the deaths of a woman and her child whose bodies were discovered at an abandoned police barracks in Rejoagung Village, Ploso District, Jombang Regency, suspected to be victims of murder.

Dimas Robin, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Jombang Police Resort, stated on Thursday in Jombang that police are still cross-referencing data on both victims. According to reports received, a husband has reported that his wife and five-year-old child are missing. Police are currently attempting to identify the victims.

“The bodies have not yet been successfully identified because several fingerprints have been damaged. We are unable to read them with our identification equipment,” he said.

He noted that a two-wheeled vehicle was found at the scene. Police examined the vehicle and found a name believed to belong to the suspected husband. The motorcycle was discovered at the entrance of the abandoned police barracks building in Rejoagung Village, Jombang.

Police are currently continuing their investigation, including questioning the man who reported his wife and child missing. The man has filed a missing person report with officers. According to the information obtained, his wife left home in the morning with their child.

“From our field investigation, the husband has reported a missing person. Scientifically, we have not yet been able to confirm their identities. However, all preliminary indications strongly suggest this is the mother and child,” he stated.

Police are also conducting autopsies on the remains to determine the cause of death and to confirm the identities of both victims.

“An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. We will report our findings and confirm their identities,” he said.

Regarding the damaged fingerprints, Dimas stated that officers will attempt to find alternative methods, such as DNA testing.

The two bodies discovered at the abandoned police barracks in Rejoagung Village, Ploso District, Jombang Regency, are suspected to be a mother and child. Both were found by residents in distressing condition without clothing on Wednesday, 25 February 2026. Additionally, portions of their skin appeared blistered as if burnt. When discovered, both bodies were positioned on their sides facing each other.
