BANGKOK (Reuter): Up to 14 people have died in floods in Thailand and more rain is expected, mainly in the northeast, Interior Ministry and Meteorological Department officials said yesterday.
The ministry estimated flood damage to crops and property so far in this rainy season, which began in May, at around 830 million baht (US$33.2 million).
Floods had damaged 81,345 hectares of farmland, mostly in rice-growing central and northeastern regions, Agriculture Ministry officials said.
About 138,223 livestocks were lost or killed by the floods, they added.
