Death toll from Israeli aggression in Gaza surpasses 73,000

Gaza (ANTARA) - The number of Palestinians killed as a result of Israel’s genocidal aggression in the Gaza Strip has reached 73,016 as of Wednesday (17/6), according to a WAFA report. Citing medical sources, the Palestinian news agency reported that the death toll in the Gaza Strip stands at 73,016, the majority of whom are women and children. Meanwhile, the number of wounded has been recorded at 173,265 since the war erupted on 7 October 2023. In the past 24 hours, the bodies of two Palestinians and five injured individuals were brought to hospitals in Gaza. Since the ceasefire came into effect on 10 October 2025, Israeli forces have reportedly killed 1,005 Palestinians and wounded 3,157 others. During the same period, 784 bodies of Palestinians were also recovered and evacuated. Additionally, at least 10,000 people remain missing and are presumed dead after being buried under the rubble of buildings across various areas of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli aggression has also forced nearly 2 million residents to flee their homes throughout the Gaza Strip. The majority of the displaced have moved to Rafah City in southern Gaza, near the Egyptian border. According to the source, this population displacement constitutes the largest exodus of Palestinians since the Nakba in 1948.
