Dean Henderson Warns Crystal Palace Teammates Against Pursuing Transfers
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson has issued a stern warning to his teammates who may be contemplating a move away from the club. He stressed that focusing on their future outside the club at this time could be a very dangerous step for their careers.
The club, nicknamed The Eagles, is currently facing a difficult transition period. After losing key players such as Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi after last season’s FA Cup victory, Palace is now preparing for the departure of manager Oliver Glasner at the end of this season.
In a press conference ahead of the second leg of the Conference League match against Zrinjski Mostar, Henderson emphasized that performance on the field is the key if a player wants to be noticed by other clubs.
“They certainly shouldn’t [be thinking about their next move] and if they are, they should be very careful. Because if you don’t perform at your best, then in the end, you won’t get that move,” Henderson said.
The former Manchester United goalkeeper added that he personally does not know of any players who are in negotiations to move, but he still gave a firm warning. “I’m not aware of it, but I advise them to be careful if they are thinking like that.”
Although the future of Oliver Glasner continues to be speculation, even the manager has not ruled out the possibility of leaving before the end of the season, Henderson stressed that the squad remains behind the Austrian coach.
“We have 100% confidence in our manager,” he said, adding that the team’s ambition is to continue in European competition. “We want the journey in the Conference League to continue.”
The situation at Selhurst Park has become increasingly tense after some fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the club’s management and Glasner. A banner criticizing the board of directors and stating that Glasner’s era was over was seen at Sunday’s match.
In response to this tension, Henderson urged his teammates to take responsibility and prove themselves on the field to appease the fans.
“It is very important for the fans to support the team, but we must also give something in return. This is a difficult period and the players must take a lot of responsibility. We have to play better,” Henderson explained.
He concluded with a message about the importance of rebuilding confidence through victory. “We have to keep trying to build momentum, and everything will be easier once you are in a winning rhythm. That is what we are striving for, and the message I keep giving to restore confidence.”
