Deadline for Trump's Ultimatum to Obliterate Iran Draws Nearer
US President Donald Trump plans to obliterate Iran, including all its civilian sites, ahead of an ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz. Trump threatens to devastate Iran within a mere four hours. The deadline for Trump’s ultimatum is drawing nearer.
Citing detikNews on Tuesday (7/4/2026), Trump stated that the US has plans to destroy bridges and power plants in Iran. He said the total destruction of Iran’s civilian sites would occur at midnight on Wednesday local time, or four hours after the deadline he set for reaching an agreement on the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
“We have a plan, with our military strength, where every bridge in Iran will be destroyed at 12 midnight tomorrow (7 April), where every power plant in Iran will stop operating - burned, exploded, and never used again, I mean total destruction - at 12 midnight,” Trump said.
“And that will happen within a four-hour timeframe if we want it to. We don’t want that to happen,” he added.
It is known that Trump previously threatened to destroy Iran’s power plants on 21 March. At that time, Trump gave Iran a 48-hour deadline to open the Strait of Hormuz.
However, two days later, Trump said he was having very good and productive talks with Iranian authorities. He then postponed the attack on the power plants for five days. He subsequently extended the deadline again, until 8:00 PM on Monday (00:00 GMT Tuesday) ahead.
In his latest statement, Trump said that Iran could be destroyed overnight. Trump warned Tehran that they must reach a deal on Tuesday (7/4) night or face a broader bombing attack.
“The entire country can be destroyed overnight, and that night might be tomorrow night,” Trump said at a White House press conference, citing AFP news agency on Tuesday.
“I hope I don’t have to do it,” Trump said.
Critics say Trump would commit a war crime if the US attacks civilian power plants, a point Trump refuted on Monday (6/4) local time.
“I’m not worried about that. Do you know what a war crime is? Having nuclear weapons,” Trump said.
Iran Demands Full Payment of War Reparations
Meanwhile, Iran’s leadership remains adamant on their demands. The Strait of Hormuz will be reopened if war reparations are paid in full.
“If, within the framework of the new legal order, the damages from the imposed war are fully compensated from part of the transit costs,” wrote Mehdi Tabatabaei, communications official in the office of Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian.
The naval command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran’s powerful elite force, stated that the Strait of Hormuz will never return to its previous state, especially for the United States and Israel. Iran claims control over the entire route and plans to implement a tariff system for shipping passing through.
Shortly afterwards, the Revolutionary Guard reported that the head of their intelligence division, Majid Khadami, was killed in an attack. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that the military had eliminated Khadami. He was said to be directly responsible for the deadly rocket attacks on Israeli civilians.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf wrote on platform X that war crimes will achieve nothing. The only solution is “to respect the rights of the Iranian people and end this dangerous game.” He warned that reckless steps could set the entire region ablaze.
