Daylight robbery hurts home-alone

JAKARTA: Six armed robbers broke into a house on Jl. Siaga Baru, Pejaten, South Jakarta, injuring the homeowner and stealing his car.

Taufik, 42, was at home alone early on Wednesday, when six robbers came into the house. His wife Lenny, who is a staff member of the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas), was traveling abroad.

The six broke the lock and, realizing that someone was home, knocked on the door. As Taufik opened the door, they threatened him and put a sickle to his neck. Taufik tried to fend them off, but the robber swung the sickle and injured him.

The robbers forced Taufik to give them the key to his car, as well as the car registration documents. The stolen car is a green Kijang minivan with license plate number B1745HQ.

Taufik is currently being treated at Siaga Hospital. -- JP
