Police have designated a caregiver at Baby Preneur Daycare, initialled DS (24), as a suspect in the alleged assault on a toddler.

The head of criminal investigation at Banda Aceh Police Resort, Kompol Miftahuda Dizha Fezuono, stated that the investigation is ongoing to probe the possibility of other perpetrators or similar incidents.

“For now, we have only named one suspect, namely DS (24). This designation was made after the investigation process against her and the case review by investigators,” Dizha told reporters on Wednesday (29/4).

He noted that the case review is not yet fully complete. Investigators are still tracing the potential involvement of other parties in the under-age child assault case.

“The deepening is still underway. We will see if there are other suspects related to this case. If there are further developments, we will inform the public,” he said.

In this case, DS is charged with multiple articles related to criminal acts of assault against a minor, namely Article 77B in conjunction with Article 76B in conjunction with Article 80 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 76C of Law No. 35 of 2014 on Child Protection, as well as Article 466 paragraph (1) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code. The maximum penalty imposed is up to five years’ imprisonment.

The case came to light after footage of the assault circulated widely on social media. The video shows a 16-month-old toddler allegedly experiencing violence while under the daycare’s care.

In the recording, the toddler is seen crying while being fed. The caregiver then appears to lift the child, slam her down, and pull her ear until she falls.

Police state that the alleged violence occurred in at least two separate incidents, on 22 and 27 April 2026.

The Banda Aceh City Government has also confirmed that Baby Preneur Daycare, which has been operating for 5 years, does not have an operational permit.

Head of the Banda Aceh Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Agency, Mohd Ichsan, said that despite lacking a permit, they are still closing the childcare facility.

“Yes, it does not have an operational permit, meaning it’s illegal; this must be shut down,” Ichsan told reporters on Tuesday night (28/4).
