Dayak Community Leader Questions Dayak Center in the IKN Promised by Jokowi
Dayak community leader Panglima Jilah questioned the fate of the Dayak Center being built at the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), which had been promised by the seventh President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He said this during a meeting with Jokowi in Solo, on Thursday 5 March 2026. Jilah, who leads the Merah Tariu Borneo Bangkule Rajakng (TBBR) forces, said he had raised the issue in a 30-minute closed meeting with Jokowi, at Jokowi’s residence, on Thursday 5 March 2026. ‘We are hoping for certainty regarding the Dayak Center,’ ujar dia kepada wartawan. Initially, a small Dayak delegation asked about the continuation of the IKN’s development, and then expanded the Dayak Center plans, which had at one point been discussed with Jokowi. ‘Our aspiration is that the Dayak Center can be realised soon. The Dayak people have been waiting for the Dayak Center to be established in the IKN. It may be built this year or next. We hope it can be forwarded to the central government,’ Jilah added. Going forward, the Dayak Center’s existence is expected to boost the Dayak community’s economy. In the design, the Dayak Center would include a gallery and SMEs, which could increase the incomes of the community. ‘The Dayak Center will also showcase Dayak culture, customs, traditions and dances. Jokowi’s response has been very supportive. The Dayak Center must be located in the IKN,’ he added once more.
