Day Three of KMP Putri Yasmin SAR: Five Passengers Still Missing

Search and rescue (SAR) operations for the KMP Putri Yasmin ferry fire in the Lombok Strait continued into their third day on Friday (14/8/2026), with a joint team intensifying efforts to locate five missing passengers. Based on the SAR operation plan issued by the Mataram SAR Office, the search area has been expanded. Three main Search and Rescue Units (SRU) were deployed, covering surface water sweeps and an aerial search. SRU 1 utilised the KN SAR 220 Mataram vessel, SRU 2 operated the KAL Lembar for surface searches, and SRU 3 deployed a Finns SGi Air Bali helicopter for aerial monitoring to broaden the visual search range. Head of the Mataram SAR Office, Muhamad Hariyadi, affirmed the team’s commitment to maximising all resources on the third day of the operation. The operation involves close synergy from various agencies, including the Mataram SAR Office, Denpasar SAR Office, Lanal Mataram, Ditpolair Polda NTB, KSOP Lembar, and regional hospitals. The search focuses on five passengers who remain missing. As of Thursday afternoon, 212 passengers had been evacuated safely, while one passenger was confirmed dead.
