Day Seven of Eid Exodus: 141 Accidents, 21 People Dead
Jakarta - A total of 141 traffic accidents occurred on the seventh day of the Eid al-Fitr exodus flow, from Wednesday night (18/3/2026) to Thursday morning (19/3/2026). From that number, 21 people were reported dead.
“141 accident incidents were recorded, with details of 21 people dead, 42 people seriously injured, and 188 people lightly injured,” said the Spokesperson for the Public Relations Task Force of Operation Ketupat 2026, Senior Commissioner Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, in a video statement on Thursday.
Police urge the public to continue prioritising safety during the homecoming journey. Drivers are asked to ensure their physical condition and vehicles are in prime condition and not to push themselves when fatigued.
Police also noted a significant increase in public mobility, particularly vehicles leaving Jakarta.
Based on Jasa Marga data, the total vehicles exiting Jakarta through four main toll gates on H-3 Eid reached 181,617 units, an increase of 78.84 percent compared to normal conditions.
The highest outbound flow was recorded at the Cikampek Main Toll Gate towards Trans Java with 84,434 vehicles.
Followed by the Cikupa Toll Gate towards Merak with 36,900 vehicles, the Ciawi Toll Gate towards Puncak with 30,759 vehicles, and the Kalihurip Main Toll Gate towards Bandung with 29,524 vehicles.
Meanwhile, the inbound vehicle flow to Jakarta through the four main toll gates was recorded at 78,450 vehicles, a decrease of 20.55 percent compared to normal conditions.
However, Jansen assured that the situation has now gradually eased and overall traffic flow remains under control.
“Overall, traffic conditions are still under control and continue to be managed by officers in the field,” he said.
In the crossing sector, there were 1,132 ship voyages at 36 ports with a total of 378,689 passengers.
That number includes 49,333 two-wheeled vehicles, 39,814 four-wheeled vehicles, 2,791 buses, and 5,292 trucks.
For routes, 163,603 passengers were recorded on the Java-Sumatra route and 72,497 passengers on the Java-Bali route.
For rail transport, 2,685 trips were recorded with 1,279,902 passengers.
Meanwhile, in the aviation sector, there were 2,603 flights with a total of 303,418 passengers.
