This decision was made after the Isbat Session held at the Kemenag office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 February 2026 afternoon, chaired by the Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar. The determination was made because the hilal (crescent moon) was not sighted on Tuesday, according to the Kemenag Hisab Rukyat Team, which said the hilal position did not meet the MABIMS visibility criteria. This difference does not undermine the validity of worship, and all Muslims are urged to show mutual respect. The Isbat session involved various Islamic organisations, falak (astronomy) experts, and astronomical institutes, and was conducted with an integrated method of hisab and rukyatul hilal to maintain uniformity while respecting the different methods that exist in society.
