Dave Laksono: Bahlil’s Performance Cannot Be Judged Solely by Celios Survey
DPR Commission I Deputy Chairman Dave Laksono said the results of a survey by the Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios) should be viewed as one input or evaluation in assessing the government’s performance.
“Every survey has its own indicators and approach, so its results need to be understood proportionately and placed in the right context,” Dave said in a written statement on Wednesday, 14 October 2026.
Regarding the performance of Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Dave said the assessment should consider the policies and programmes that have been implemented, including efforts to strengthen national energy security and promote the downstream processing of natural resources.
“These initiatives are important for increasing domestic value added, maintaining energy availability and supporting economic growth. Achievements should therefore be assessed objectively, while taking into account the challenges that remain and the benefits of the policies for the public,” he said.
Dave also said that implementing these initiatives requires policy consistency, investment and cross-sectoral coordination.
“Results should not be measured only by the programmes being carried out, but also by the ability to strengthen national industrial capacity, maintain energy supplies and deliver sustainable economic benefits to the public,” he said.
At the same time, Dave said the survey results could prompt reflection on how well the public understands and experiences government policies.
“A public official’s success is reflected not only in the programmes they implement, but also in the tangible impact of those policies in meeting public needs,” he said.
Dave said ministers’ performance should therefore be assessed comprehensively, taking into account programme achievements, policy effectiveness and the benefits delivered.
“This approach is important so that evaluations do not rely solely on perceptions, but also consider results and the challenges faced in carrying out their duties,” he said.
Dave said he believed public feedback could encourage continued improvements in government performance.
“What matters most is that all cabinet members remain focused on their duties and translate the President’s directives into policies that deliver tangible benefits to the public and support the national interest,” he said.
