Daughter of Police Officer Who Created Racist Comments Contest on Social Media Named Suspect
Semarang, Central Java – An investigation into a racist comments contest on social media continues to develop. A woman with the initials L has been designated as a suspect by the Cyber Crime Directorate of the Central Java Regional Police (Ditressiber Polda Jateng).
The woman is known to be the daughter of a Police Officer with the rank of Police Commissioner (Kompol) serving at the Central Java Police headquarters and the Police Academy (Akpol). She is suspected of creating a “racist comments contest” content on social media.
“She has been named a suspect. In the coming period, investigators will soon examine L in her capacity as a suspect,” said the Director of the Cyber Crime Directorate of the Central Java Police, Senior Commissioner Himawan Sutanto Saragih, speaking to media on the sidelines of an event at the Borobudur Building of the Central Java Police headquarters on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
The designation was made after investigators from the Cyber Crime Directorate obtained a number of pieces of evidence that were deemed sufficient. The determination of legal status resulted from an in-depth investigation and inquiry that had been ongoing for several weeks.
“There is sufficiently strong evidence for us to elevate her status from witness to suspect,” said Himawan.
According to him, L’s case relates to alleged racist elements in the viral content, as well as suspected violations of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law, or ITE Law.
However, to date, no decision has been made regarding the detention of the suspect. According to Himawan, investigators are still monitoring developments in the investigation process before determining the next steps.
