Daughter of Police Officer Named Suspect After Posting Racist Content and Claiming Immunity
The Central Java Regional Police Cyber Crime Directorate has officially named a woman, identified by the initial L, as a suspect in a case involving Instagram posts that encouraged followers to post racist comments. L has come under intense scrutiny not only due to the viral nature of her posts but also because she is the daughter of two high-ranking police officers.
‘Regarding the racism case involving L, we have named her a suspect. We will conduct further interrogation in the near future,’ stated the Director of Cyber Crime at the Central Java Regional Police, Kombes Pol Himawan Sutermanto Saragih, during an interview in Semarang on Monday (1/6/2026). He added that investigators possess sufficient evidence to elevate her status from a witness to a suspect.
According to Himawan, L will be charged under the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law. The investigation team is also examining whether there are grounds for additional criminal charges beyond the ITE Law.
L became a subject of public outcry after launching a contest on her Instagram account, @__redblood__, in mid-May 2026, offering a prize of Rp100,000 to the follower who could post the most racist comment. The contest prompted numerous responses, including one account that posted insults directed at the Papuan people. L reportedly replied to that comment, saying, ‘Sarcasm, bro. DM me. I’ll transfer the money.’
When some users threatened to report the account to the police, L responded defiantly via her Instagram Stories. ‘Bastard, everything is a case, everything is a case. I will be the winner, I will be the winner. Both of my parents are police officers and not of low rank,’ she wrote. She further challenged anyone to report her, adding, ‘The low-level subordinates of my parents (will handle it). Immune to the law, bastard.’ She also claimed that reporting such cases is difficult due to the need for lawyers, asserting that she has access to legal counsel and believed the police would not process ‘trivial’ cases.
Central Java Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Kombes Pol Artanto, confirmed that L’s parents are members of the Indonesian National Police (Polri). ‘The individual is the child of a Police Commissioner (Kompol) at the Central Java Regional Police and another Police Commissioner at the Police Academy (Akpol),’ Artanto stated. He noted that while L is an adult, the Cyber Crime Directorate is continuing to investigate the specific narratives, motivations, and content of the posts.
