Daughter of Former Police Chief Leaves PDIP, Joins PSI Following Visit to Jokowi
Jakarta – The Daily Chair of Solidarity Indonesia Party (PSI) Ahmad Ali welcomed the arrival of Nina Agustina, daughter of former National Police Chief General (Ret.) Da’i Bachtiar, who has joined PSI.
Nina Agustina, the former Regent of Indramayu, departed the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and joined PSI after receiving approval from seventh President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
“I would like to welcome and congratulate her on joining our extended family at Rumah Gajah, at Kandang Gajah,” Ali said in Cipete, South Jakarta, on Friday evening, 27 February 2026.
For now, Ali stated that Nina was given a position at PSI West Java, rather than at the central level.
“God willing, every day new cadres continue to arrive and join us to strengthen the Elephant ranks,” he added.
She met Jokowi at his residence in Sumber, Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, and declared her commitment to joining to help grow PSI in West Java.
Separately, PSI Solo Bappilu Chair Ginda Ferachtriawan assessed that Jokowi’s influence serves as an attraction for other figures to join, given PSI’s image as a young, open, and digitally adaptive party.
