Police have explained the circumstances in which a married couple at Jatibening Village, Pondok Gede District, Bekasi, West Java, were discovered after allegedly being attacked by robbers. The two victims, EP (65) and P (60), were found by their daughter.

“The first person to find them was their daughter. She is the daughter who lives there. The three of them live together. There is a domestic helper, but she works part-time,” said Bekasi City Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal, on Monday (2 March 2026).

The incident occurred on Monday morning approaching sahur. Initially, the victims’ daughter was usually woken up by her parents for the pre-dawn meal. However, when the incident occurred, she was not woken up until 4.00 AM.

“When she woke up she was shocked, thinking it was almost imsak (end of fasting time), so she went downstairs. When she went down she saw there was no response, the lights were still off,” he explained.

At that time, the daughter still heard her mother’s voice briefly. However, when the daughter approached, the door handle was already damaged and could not be opened.

“Eventually she went out to ask neighbours for help. The neighbours were not there, it was empty because it was early morning. So she called her family members, they came. Then she broke open the window,” he stated.

When discovered, the father was already deceased, covered in blood. Meanwhile, the mother was severely injured and is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital.

“The injuries are all from blunt force trauma to the head, to the back of the head. But we are still waiting for official results from the hospital,” he explained.
