Daughter Discovers Father Dead and Mother Critical After Waking for Dawn Meal in Bekasi

BEKASI – Police have unveiled the chronology of an alleged murder that claimed the life of EU (65) and left his wife, PW (60), in critical condition at Prima Lingkar Asri residential complex, Jatibening, Pondok Gede, Bekasi City, on Monday (2 March 2026).

The head of the criminal investigation unit at Bekasi City Metro Police, Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal, explained that the incident was first discovered by DNA, the victims’ daughter, when she awoke for sahur (the pre-dawn meal during Ramadan).

The youngest child of the victims was ordinarily awakened for sahur by her mother around 03:00 WIB (Western Indonesia Time).

DNA’s alarm sounded at approximately 04:15 WIB. She was startled because she felt it was nearly time for imsak (the end of the pre-dawn eating period), yet her mother had not awakened her as usual.

“Eventually the victim took the initiative to go downstairs to wake her mother. There was no answer there. What was heard was a sound like someone snoring,” Andi told media representatives at the scene of the incident on Monday.

Sensing something was amiss and receiving no response from her parents, the daughter began to panic.

“The daughter was shocked and panicked, then asked for help from neighbours but there was no one around. So the victim contacted her family,” said Andi.

Shortly thereafter, the victims’ family arrived at the location. However, because access to enter the house was difficult, a window pane was forcibly opened.

When discovered, EU was found on a bed covered in blood, whilst PW lay on the bedroom floor.

EU was pronounced dead at the scene, whilst PW was in critical condition and immediately rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

Preliminary investigation results indicated that both victims sustained injuries from blunt force trauma to the back of the head.

“For now, based on information from the hospital doctor, there was blunt force trauma to the back of the head,” said Andi.
