Data Science Student Builds Construction Business Worth Hundreds of Millions, Evidence that UNM Produces Young Entrepreneurs
JAKARTA – Balancing the dual role of university student and construction business operator managing hundreds of millions of rupiah is no easy task.
Yet that is precisely the reality navigated by Muhamad Naufal Amirul Ma’arif, a Data Science student at Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), known as the Digital Business Campus, who has successfully developed ZAMA AUTO SPORT, a construction company specialising in sports field and supporting infrastructure development.
Naufal’s choice to attend UNM was deliberate. According to him, UNM offers an academic approach aligned with the practical realities of business and the digital industry.
“I chose UNM because its approach aligns with the practical requirements of the business world. As a Digital Business Campus, UNM provides flexibility and a curriculum that does not hinder my entrepreneurial role; rather, it strengthens the integration between theory and practice,” Naufal explained.
As a Data Science student, Naufal acknowledged that he benefits from a data-driven mindset when managing high-risk construction projects.
“I am accustomed to examining data, from budget planning, risk estimation, to evaluating client satisfaction. Data ensures that I do not rely solely on intuition, but rather on rational and measured decision-making,” he elaborated.
Meanwhile, Tati Mardiana, Head of the Data Science Programme at UNM, regards Naufal as a tangible example of UNM’s educational outcomes.
“Naufal’s achievement demonstrates that UNM Data Science students excel not only academically but are also capable of applying their knowledge in real-world business environments. This embodies the spirit of the Digital Business Campus that we have built,” Tati affirmed.
