The West Lombok Regency Government (Pemkab) has dismissed 31 honorary workers who were previously nominated to become part-time Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK). The reason is that the participants’ data did not match the database of the National Civil Service Agency (BKN), making it impossible to issue their Employee Identification Numbers (NIP).

West Lombok Regent, Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ), stated that the problem stemmed from data input errors during the PPPK nomination process around four months ago.

“In total, 31 people could not have their NIP issued, and there is no alternative. Therefore, they must be dismissed. The problem lies in incorrect data entered during the initial input,” said West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini on Tuesday.

According to LAZ, the participant data stored in the system does not match the original documents they possess. Consequently, during the verification process, the participants did not meet the requirements based on the data recorded in the database.

He cited examples where a participant only possessed a high school diploma, but was recorded in the system as having a three-year diploma (D3). Others were recorded as holding a bachelor’s degree (S1), despite only possessing a D3 diploma.

“There are cases where the database records a D3 qualification, but the genuine certificate is only a high school diploma. There are also those whose database entry states S1, but the person concerned only has a D3 certificate. When verified, naturally, it does not match,” he explained.

Beyond the issue of educational certificates, the West Lombok Regency Government also discovered discrepancies in the formations of several teaching staff. Of the 31 problematic participants, 11 are teachers whose formations do not comply with the regulations in the system of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen).

“For instance, there is a teacher for a specific subject at an elementary school. In fact, the elementary school system only recognises classroom teachers, religious education teachers, and sports teachers. Because the formation is unavailable, the system cannot process their NIP,” he revealed.

LAZ stressed that the West Lombok Regency Government had attempted to find a solution by coordinating with the BKN. However, these efforts were fruitless because the database serving as the basis for verification is locked and cannot be corrected.

“We have tried our utmost. But the BKN has closed the window for data repair. They must follow the data stored in the database. If the data is not synchronised, the process cannot proceed,” he asserted.

According to LAZ, retaining these honorary workers could potentially create legal problems because the government has no legal basis to pay them without an NIP and a formal appointment decree.

“If they continue working and the government pays them, what is the legal basis? There is not even a formal decree. It would be a pity if they keep serving but their status remains unclear,” he said.
