The Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, has affirmed that his office will expedite data collection to ensure aid reaches disaster survivors in Sumatra on time. The measure is deemed crucial to accelerating the recovery of affected areas.

“There are actually several somewhat technical matters that we want to resolve, which is why we need to sit down together,” Tito said in a written statement on Tuesday (24/2/2026).

Tito made the remarks during a Progress Meeting on the Acceleration of Post-Natural Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra provinces, held at the Ministry of Home Affairs offices in Jakarta on Monday (23/2).

Tito emphasised that speed in the data collection process is essential to prevent delays in aid distribution. The government has designed various assistance schemes to support disaster survivors, including housing repair grants and livelihood support.

Housing repair assistance is divided into three categories: Rp15 million for minor damage, Rp30 million for moderate damage, and Rp60 million for severe damage. The aid is channelled through the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).

Meanwhile, livelihood support comprises an economic stimulus of Rp5 million, household furnishing assistance worth Rp3 million for disaster victims, and a daily living allowance of Rp15,000 per day.

Tito expressed hope that the aid would reach survivors promptly so they would not have to struggle during Ramadan. He also called on regional governments and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to collaborate in accelerating the data validation process.

Through these measures, it is hoped that all assistance can be swiftly received by disaster survivors in Sumatra, which is important for accelerating the recovery of their livelihoods.

The meeting was attended by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, Deputy Forestry Minister Rohmat Marzuki, BNPB Head Suharyanto, BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah, and other relevant officials.
