JAKARTA — Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has urged the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) to follow up on an announcement by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI). Dasco called on the exchange to undertake reforms to improve governance in Indonesia’s capital market.

“We are monitoring the situation and asking the exchange to continue making improvements, including taking into account the views of international rating agencies, including MSCI,” Dasco said at a press conference at the IDX building in Jakarta on Friday, 16 October 2026.

Dasco said MSCI’s announcement had come earlier than planned. He said the review by MSCI had been expected to be published in November.

“It was supposed to conduct a review or consultation in November, but then, in the early hours of this morning, it issued what amounted to a review,” Dasco said.

Dasco said he had heard about several steps to improve Indonesia’s capital market at a meeting of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK). He asked the OJK and the IDX to provide more detailed information to MSCI and the public.

“The exchange has in fact already undertaken processes to accommodate reviews that were only expected in November,” Dasco said.

At the same press conference, the OJK said it had found indications of criminal violations in the capital market at 31 of 61 issuers included in an initial examination into suspected market offences. Three issuers that have attracted investor attention — PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA), PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN) and PT Petrindo Jaya Kreasi Tbk (CUAN) — are also subjects of the OJK’s law-enforcement action.

At the event, National Police Chief Suyudi Ario Seto said police were ready to follow up on reports from the OJK. Suyudi pledged firm action against parties found to have committed criminal offences in Indonesia’s capital market.

“We will deploy a team from the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency in response to information about suspected violations or capital-market crimes. Based on the evidence we gather, we will take firm action to provide legal certainty regarding problems in the capital-market sector,” Suyudi said.
