Dasco to Lead Political Safari Next Week to Discuss Electoral Thresholds

Jakarta – Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) will conduct a political safari to a number of political parties as part of drafting the Election Bill (RUU Pemilu). Deputy Chairman of Commission II Aria Bima explained that the visit aims to gather input from various parties, including those without seats in the DPR. “Besides civil society and universities, in drafting this bill we want to hear from parties not in parliament,” Aria Bima told reporters on Thursday, 25 June 2026. He said the political safari will be led by Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. Aria Bima noted several crucial issues will be the focus of discussion in the bill drafting process. These include the parliamentary threshold, the presidential threshold, and the arrangement of electoral districts and the number of seats in each district. “We want to conduct a political safari, led directly by Mr Dasco together with the leadership of Commission II. We must hear about crucial issues, namely the parliamentary threshold, presidential threshold, and also electoral districts and seat limits per district,” he explained. Aria said the political safari will take place next week before the recess period begins. “What is clear is that before the recess period we will have a visit. God willing, it is already scheduled for next week,” he stated.
